Into the Gray

First off, I have to express how excited I was to get to wake up yesterday morning and see that my college friend Shannon had written a blog post about me! Well, not just about me.  About me, KendiJeanna and Tonesha, but still, she dedicated a whole paragraph and an entire photo to yours truly; and I couldn’t be more flattered.  That being said, Shannon described The Style Geek as “…perfect if you’re wondering how to wear things and how not to wear them”  and I now feel an intense amount of pressure to live up to that description. So, here goes…

This outfit was actually inspired by Heather Gardner, the woman who designed the necklace I’m wearing.  The last time I saw Heather she was wearing an all black ensemble similar to this one and I marveled at how sleek the outfit looked while still being modest and covering up any issues one might have in the mid-section (for the record, Heather does not have those issues) and pretty much anywhere else. Believe it or not, the cape is LC Lauren Conrad for Kohls (the only one I could find online is available on eBay), the boots are from Marshalls (similar here) and that’s actually an American Apparel dress I’m wearing underneath the cape.

Each piece in the outfit is totally remixable too–something Kendi would be pleased to know: The cape pairs well with skinny jeans. The dress can be worn by itself and the boots go with everything.

Hopefully this post has lived up to the expectations Shannon set.  Be sure to head on over to Shannon’s blog Not Entirely Ordinary for the full Fun With Fashion feature.
